With the Black Lives Matter movement calling out injustices towards people of color in America, it is more important than ever to recognize the link between race and environmental injustice. Not only are black Americans more likely to not be taken seriously when raising a concern about their health and environment, but they are also more likely to live near a fossil fuel plant, putting them at risk for pollution related health issues such as asthma. Environmental justice is for ALL, and it will take all working together to prevent climate change. We cannot tackle this issue until black lives are recognized, until the jeopardy that they are put in purely because of the neighborhoods America has designed for them to live in, is recognized.

While we are all human beings who must put aside differences to fix climate change, those differences should also be acknowledged and celebrated. It will take many perspectives and ideas to truly fix the roots of the issue. Climate justice is for all - all races, genders, sexualities, political stances, etc. Are you ready to join the fight?
