Projects:

Locust Point Recreation Center

During the spring of 2018, Global Gardens worked with a recreation center in Locust Point, Baltimore to share our curriculum and plant a community garden. We met with a group of students three times to share our powerpoint presentations, play interactive climate change-themed games, and plant the garden. After out part in the garden ended it continued to flourish as the students followed our lessons and tended to it.

In August of 2019, Global Gardens visited the three and four-year-old campers at the E.B. Hirsh Early Childhood Center, part of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation (BHC), to explain climate change through interactive curriculum. We met with campers two times to complete climate-change related art projects and plant seeds in BHC's community garden.

Presentation at Towson University

In Spring of 2019, Global Gardens gave a presentation at Towson University to a group of students attending the Maryland National Aquarium's annual Youth Ocean Conservation Summit. There, students had the opportunity to learn how we developed our organization, as well as how they could put their own plan into action to join the fight against climate change & help their communities. Interested in having us speak to a group of students, whether part of a conference, classroom, or club? We'd love for you to get in touch!

Arlington Garden

In Spring of 2021, Global Gardens taught its curriculum virtually to students at Arlington Elementary. To go along with the online learning, Global Gardens provided each student with an activity box. The box contained both materials to go along with activities in the curriculum (markers, colored paper) as well a materials to build a small mini-garden at home (dirt, recycled container, seeds). Global Gardens is also working with students at Arlington Elementary to build a large-scale garden at the school. The garden will be filled with edible fruits and vegetables and beautiful sunflowers. The students will learn the necessary skills to maintain the garden even after Global Gardens is done with its part.

Awesome Planet

In May of 2021, Global Gardens was featured on the TV show Xploration Awesome Planet, hosted by Philippe Cousteau. On it, Global Gardens discussed how we got started, the importance of education, and advice for young activists.
